This urban project was designed to complement a newly constructed building situated on a prominent, bustling intersection in town. The challenge was clear: the landscaping needed to withstand the demands of a windy, sun-soaked corner with heavy foot traffic, while also enhancing the building’s visual appeal.
Along the main roadside, we opted for a simple yet striking mass planting. By keeping the design clean and unfussy, we ensured that the beauty of the building’s architectural screens remained the focal point. The planting selection emphasized durability and resilience, perfect for thriving in these urban conditions.
In front of the building, we created low-profile features that avoid competing with the signage yet to be installed. Using a combination of color, texture, and form, we brought visual interest to the space without overwhelming it. The result is a harmonious blend of simplicity and sophistication.
Flanking the main entrance, we chose a pairing of Strelitzia and Lomandra grasses. This understated yet elegant combination adds a welcoming touch to the building’s facade while maintaining the overall theme of clean, modern landscaping.
This project highlights how thoughtful plant selection and strategic design can transform a challenging urban corner into a cohesive and enduring landscape that enhances the surrounding architecture.
