Located on a busy one-way street and positioned directly at a set of traffic lights, this MTF business frontage offered a prime opportunity to create a landscape that would make a lasting impression. The existing garden was tired and uninspiring, but with a complete redesign, we transformed the space into a modern, eye-catching landscape that enhances the business’s street presence.
The project began with the removal of existing shrubs and a full site clean-up. We carefully lifted, cleaned, and re-laid the existing pavers to create a refreshed and cohesive foundation. Using Straightcurve Garden Edging, we introduced multiple garden levels to add depth, structure, and visual interest throughout the frontage.
Plant selection focused on low-growing, drought-tolerant varieties that complement the business signage rather than obstruct it. The arid-style planting scheme was specifically chosen to withstand Taranaki’s often harsh weather conditions while providing an attractive, low-maintenance solution for a busy commercial property.
To complete the design, we incorporated 15mm lime chip throughout the garden beds and larger 30mm decorative stone within the pathway and raised feature ring surrounding a striking cycad. The bright white stone creates a clean, modern aesthetic that instantly brightens the landscape and stands out to passing traffic.
The existing feature pots were repositioned to frame a new bench seat, creating a welcoming space where customers can comfortably sit and wait within the garden setting.
Despite the challenging nature of the site, with access restricted to a single gate facing the busy intersection, the installation involved moving large quantities of rock, decorative stone, and steel edging by hand. The additional effort required was substantial, but the finished result speaks for itself—a striking, practical, and low-maintenance commercial landscape that delivers year-round appeal and significantly enhances the property’s street presence.
